More shoes......

Another beautiful day!!!

Found 2 pairs of shoes that may work for the wedding. Beige dresses are hard to match so I got a pair of beige and a pair of gold figuring if one didn't work the other would. And they were both on sale and both look good. Now I have to figure out which ones I can walk down the aisle in and not trip and embarass myself. Decisions, decisions............OCD again.

Decided not to go to my dad's tomorrow. It is supposed to rain and it sounds like a perfect opportunity to do my taxes. Would love to get them off my mind earlier than last minute this year.

Now I can relax and watch some movies tonight. I rented "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" (recommended by a customer) and "The Departed". Should keep me busy for a while.

TGIF

Well, I got bath #3 done today but it took forever. Same problems as yesterday and I can't completely blame my customer. I did most of the talking today and I have trouble working while I am talking.

Then I did a repair job at another house where the tile men had messed up the paper around the bathtub and the vanity. Took forever to strip old pieces but that is a job I can do while talking. And talk I did. I was like a motormouth but I really like this couple.

Was planning on shopping afterward but it got too late so I picked up Chinese food, some movies, went to the bank and came home. Shopping will have to wait till tomorrow.

Long day

Another beautiful day but cooler.

I am sooooooooo tired. It took an hour and 1/2 to get to work this AM. Traffic was a b----. I worked for a nice couple who checked in on me every 2 minutes to make sure I didn't need anything. This breaks my train of thought and bugs the heck out of me. The light fixture in the first bath proved to take extra time taking it loose and putting it back but I persevered. Then there was the strip of paper with a defect that I had to replace. Then she wanted me to cut one of the stripes from the left overs to add as a top border.

Bath #2 I had estimated to take 4 rolls of paper with no repeat and 5 rolls with a repeat. Guess what??? She bought 4 rolls of a paper with a large repeat. So I tried my darndest to get it to work out (which takes lots of time and thought) and still ran 1 strip shy of finishing. Now she has to reorder and I'll have to return to hang 1 lousy strip at a later date.

Bath #3 will have to wait till tomorrow.

At about 4:45 I hit the road to make the trek home, which took until 6:00 in rush hour traffic. Oh, the joys of city traffic!!!!

Gorgeous Day

Another beautiful day.....what happened to the rain, Mr. Weatherman??? Temps in low 70's and sunny.

I finally found a dress that I feel confident will work for the wedding April 21. I have been stressing about getting just the right clothes because there will be pictures taken and recorded for history and I don't want to embarass myself with generations to come. In the big scheme of things, who cares??? I do!!!

Truth be told, I now have 3 different choices, all of which could work. But I need to feel that "special confident thingie" before I can relax and enjoy the way I look. It's an OCD moment.

Today I got this place vacuumed and dusted. Got my oil changed, filled up with gas, bought paste and shopped for the perfect dress.

It was one of those days when everything just fell into place and I wasn't flitting from one thing to another, never completing anything. I have more of those flitting days than organized ones so I'm glad today was calm.

I'm working tomorrow in McLean (dread the traffic) and finishing on Friday, if I don't get done. Easy job: 3 small baths in older home. It's been an easy week.

Ferns are gone......

Well, it got to the upper 70's today and the ferns are dumped in the woods. Dead ivy is gone and ugly bush is trimmed. I took the dead clematis vine off the back fence and things are looking a lot neater.

Also the birdbath is cleaned and de-anted. Took the top off birdbath and discovered an ant colony building at top of the column. Couldn't get the bug sprayer to work so I decided just to hose them off (they'll probably come back). I had bought a bag of seashells last fall to add to birdbath along with my plaster frog and guess what? seashells float. I suppose I'll have to put the river rocks back in because they don't float. Another fact to add to my memory book.

Now they are saying that it will be 60 degrees tomorrow and rainy so I'm glad I took advantage of todays' sunny 78 degrees.

Good and Bad

I got a pleasant surprise at work today. They had gutted the whole kitchen and all I had to paper were straight walls with a stripe. The easiest kitchen I have ever papered.

Just checked my on-line checking statement and I am worried. My payment to a loan I have has not been deducted yet. If they don't get it posted by tomorrow the interest will go sky-high and I'll be scrambling to transfer the amount someplace else. Damn, double damn!!! My own stupid fault for not mailing it before I left for Florida.

It is supposed to get to 80 degrees tomorrow and I have the day off. Whahoo!!! Now I can get the yard cleaned up and throw away the hanging ferns that died last Fall. I keep them to get the affect of the snow on them in Winter but they are looking pretty pathetic right now.

Just Checking In

I hate the new blog.........I can't just click to add to it. Just proves that everything new is not always easier and better. Have to go thru signing in and PW's, which I always have to look up. Damn changes!!!

I thought that maybe someone else had added something to my blog while I have been negligent. No such luck!!!

A lot has happened since my last post and I can't remember most of it. I do know that I went to Florida on March 18 and returned on the 22nd. Saw Lucy, Dean and my cousin Kay while there. We ate out a lot, shopped, played Bridge, ate, shopped, toured, ate, talked and ate some more. Then I came home. A very good trip.

I hung paper yesterday, Saturday and today I went on 2 estimates. One was in Alexandria and I get lost everytime I go there. This time I went N on 395 where I should have gone S and ended up on Constitution Ave. in D.C. I figured that one out and then I couldn't find the street in Alexandria. And I have been there before but couldn't get oriented today. Finally called the lady and she gave me directions. I was about 5 blocks away. How did we ever get along without cellphones?

The 2nd estimate was in North Ridge in Loudoun County about 40 miles west of the first. Made that one okay because I can find my way around the countryside but not the cities. I spent 3 1/2 hrs. in the car just to tell people how much paper to order. Wasting my time and gas but a necessary part of the job.

Tomorrow I work in Woodbridge which is 20 miles south of here. I'm papering a kitchen and I hope it is easy. Don't need to be there working till midnight.

I should not complain. It is work and I have spent all winter with a sluggish schedule so at least I have work now. Sitting around waiting for customers to call is no fun especially when you don't have money to spend foolishly. A real catch-22.

Movie Weekend

Watched "Snakes................" today and found it very campy and ridiculous.

Returned movies and got 2 more......."A Good Year" and "Must Love Dogs". Will watch and review later.

I have painting to do this week. A change of pace for a few days. Three rooms: family room with vaulted ceiling, dining room with paper to remove on bottom and a living room. Should take 4 days.

I made reservations to go to Tampa again next Sunday. Leave at 10:35 AM and return Thursday at 8:29 PM. Another short trip. Plans so far are to spend Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with Dean and then Tuesday night until I leave Thursday with Lucy. On Monday we plan to visit with Kay, my cousin, who is not doing too well physically. Complaints with hip and knee.

Yahoo Mail was down today for several hours so I guess that is why I got my laundry, ironing and mending done. I feel relaxed and ready to go to work tomorrow and it won't be quite as cold going out in the AM. Temperature is getting more friendly and time changed last night so that helps too.

Now I am ready for another movie.............

Trying New Blog

Watching movies today......"Man of the Year".....lots of political messages so I liked this one. "Little Miss Sunshine"......glad my family is not like this one.......don't know if I'd watch again.

I HATE UPGRADES ! ! !

Well, I have just been forced to upgrade to "THE NEW AND BETTER GOOGLE" blogging experience. Already things are not working as advertised. They never do. I couldn't even figure out how to scroll down on the page presented to me. There was no bar on the side to use, nor was it scrolling with the ball on my mouse.

We'll see how the rest of this "WONDERFUL UPGRADE" goes. If I don't return to this Blog, it probably means that I couldn't figure out how to get back. I may just give up totally.
