Hello

Not sure how I got here (into my account) because things have changed since I last signed on.
Why do things have to change?  Hope I can figure out how to get back on in the future to add to my blog.

Another cold (27 degrees) day with a few inches of new white on ground. Not really complaining because  it is winter and it is beautiful but it means another day of not going out.

Today is President's Day that used to be Washington's Birthday in another world that I grew up in. The new politically correct crap bogs my mind. I'm kinda glad I'm on my way out of this world. It's nothing like the world I used to know.

I love my little world as much as I hate my little world.  Not much is expected of me but then I miss being needed and wanted.

Boring day

I made this a boring day by not wanting to go out in the heat.  Thermometer on patio said 98 degrees this afternoon so I decided I really didn't need to go out. 

Got a few loads of laundry done and watched TV but mostly napped, worked puzzles, looked for cars on internet and was totally bored.

Have to plan on getting out early tomorrow to beat the heat.

Old age and retirement are wonderful and an excuse for everything.  I do my fair share of blaming either or both for my shortcomings.

Tomorrow will be a more productive day!!!

Synopsis of August

3rd- Nail Salon and Car Connection to put in A/C filter for umpteenth time.

4th- Lunch with Nancy at Virginia Kitchen at 11 and a quick tour of Herndon Art Museum.

5th- Shampoo at Nami's Hair Salon

9th- Visit with Rheba to see her new furniture.

12th- Pick up Jeffrey in Fairfield, Pa. and took to Frederick to pick up his food stamp card and apply at Temp Agency for work.

19th- Perm at Nami's Hair Salon.

20th- Patsy's for lunch and visit.

22nd and 23rd- Went with Rheba to Abington, Va. for a funeral.

25th- Mike went to gas up for going to Charlestown tomorrow to visit with Shawn and Pat. He stopped at Popeye's and totaled his car by hitting 2 cars and a lamppost while going thru the drive thru.

26th- I met Shawn and Pat in Leesburg at Greene Turtle ( because Mike was in no shape to go along and I was afraid  to leave him for too long). Cancelled out trip to Charlestown.

31st- Appointment for nails at Sully Nails.

We are now spending our days researching what cars to buy. Before he totaled his car, Mike had told me he'd buy me another vehicle because mine is causing too many problems and expense.  So now we are looking for 2 vehicles.  Might as well get it all out of the way at once,  if his bank account can take it.

Hope to start with next month doing a daily entry as before, because that is much more interesting.

I've spent the last half hour trying to figure out how to get back into this account. It's been a long time since I signed on last and things do change...........

It's amazing how my life has changed in just a few short years but it's interesting to read the progression.  Hope to keep this up on a regular basis now that I think I can get back in here.

Summer Updates

We've survived the many (too many) days of 100 degrees this summer.  Now we are down to a COOL stage of upper 80's to mid 90's.  Not much yard work getting done this summer.

I started in mid-June,  with a lot of help from Jeffrey,  to paint at Pap's and get the house ready to have carpets installed.  PROJECT COMPLETE by mid July!!!   Now some more boxing of knick-knacks but not pressing to get that done. Good winter project!!!

Went to Janet's for dinner on 4th of July and then to fireworks at Chantilly Golf and CC.

July 8-12,  I pet and house sat for Deb.  Got more woodwork painted for her.

July 19 went to Bridal Shower at Sara's in Hagerstown for Paul's bride-to-be and then back to Pap's for a few days.

Visited Patsy in hospital where she ended up after her tractor flipped on her and broke her back.  She's doing okay now but will be in back brace for many months.  What was an 80 year old doing on a tractor anyway????? 

Back to Pap's on August 2nd to make last minute tidy-ups for using the house on Saturday for Paul's wedding participants to use.  Then to Deb's to celebrate her Birthday and go to wedding on August 4th with them.

Although it was HOT the wedding was a complete success and beautiful.  Location: Pen Mar Park was perfect choice.

Went to Vienna Community Center Youth Theatre with Janet on July 11 to see "Footloose".

105 degrees today

When will this heat end?

I've lost track of how many days we have had record heat.

The plants and bushes are drying up.

Why????

Why am I still sitting here drinking coffee and smoking when I need to be dressing and packing to leave in 2 hours for Greensboro, NC.

HOORAY!!!!  Tomorrow Ashly will be getting her degree from Greensboro College.

I'm really excited about going so why am I dragging my feet?
