Dog troubles

Called dad at 6:00PM to see if he was still alive.

He said, "I'm worried to death."

Me, "About what?"

"They took my dog this morning. And I know they had him put down."

"They were taking him to the groomer."

"That doesn't take 24 hours. I know they won't bring him back."

"They were going shopping after they dropped him and I guess they are running late. And from this morning till now is not 24 hrs."

(sniffle) "I know they won't bring him back."

Him again, "Oh, here's my dog and he looks different."

"I told you they'd bring him back. Let me talk to Vicki."

Merry Christmas!!!

I got to Deb's about noon and their house looked like a cyclone had gone through the family room. Wrapping paper, boxes, toys and clothes everywhere. Not unlike any other house that has kids, I'm sure.

They opened their gifts from me and seemed appropriately thrilled, which doesn't always happen, with my choices this year. I don't think anything is being returned!!!

Then I went to my dad's and gave him his presents, which didn't even elicit a thank you. But that is normal for him. After about an hour my sister, etc. arrived to connect his major present from his kids--a 26" LCD TV. He started complaining immediately that it was going to cost him too much money?????? Go figure, since we are giving it to him. Then Vicki went through the channels for him showing him the advantages of having a new set. He proceeded to curse, yell and was nearly crying because he said it wasn't getting the channels he was used to watching. It was just a new set, for God's sake, not new service, but he wouldn't calm down enough to check it out. (I am really dreading getting older.)

Long story short, Vicki said s--t on it and reconnected his old set, packed up the new one and took it to her house and she now has a new 26" LCD TV in her living room.

The man is impossible!!! Bah Humbug!!! I can't figure out why we keep trying to be nice to him???

I went to Vicki's for the night, we played some games and I sacked out in her basement for the night. Friday morning Paul left early to go deer hunting (he already shot 1 deer, but wanted to try for another) and he succeeded in bagging another doe. Larry helped him drag it out of the woods and they hung it in the shed to skin it. Yes, I watched, freezing my butt off, till I decided to hit the road for my own little world again.

Another Merry Christmas gone by.....................wonder what next year will bring???

Christmas Eve

Just returned from dinner with Ash, Allison and Joe (her live-in). Great dinner at Sweetwater again.

Today I unloaded the wallpaper junk from vehicle and tonight I packed all the gifts in back of truck. Better than doing it in the AM when it's cold and I'm half asleep. Now all I have to do is get up, get dressed and go. Unfortunately, I take after my dad and can't push myself in the morning. Plan on getting started by 9:00 and then I'll have more time to visit.

Ashly made me a picture frame and a jar of clear stones and shells with a candle and I love them both. She is such a dear person. We have a really good time together.

Updates

This month, to date, I have worked a total of 3 days, had my nails done once, finally got my hair trimmed, had my 6 month dental checkup, shopped with Vicki for Pap's Xmas TV set present, Ashly spent a night with me and we shopped for Xmas, and I made an appt. for next Tuesday to have my hair highlighted. (Finally going to take a chance with some new product without ammonia, because I am getting too grey.)

Yesterday was our 1st really cold day with the temps in the teens and when I tried to start my SUV the transmission was frozen up and I had a few panicky minutes where I thought I would have to look for another vehicle. Not a good time for that to happen, time-wise or money-wise.

Helped Mike pack his car this morning for his trip to Charlotte and Columbia for the holidays. It is still colder than crap but supposed to warm up to 50's tomorrow.

Now all my gifts are wrapped and I'm just waiting for things to start occurring. Tomorrow I meet Ashly and Allison for our every-Xmas-eve dinner. We decided to go to Sweetwater Tavern in Sterling this year so Allison wouldn't have to cook. Thursday, I'm heading to Deb's for the day and then spending the night at Vicki's and seeing my dad on Friday. Then back home that night.

New Year's Day, I'm driving to Charlotte for a visit plus a Barmitzvah on the 3rd and then back home probably the 4th.
