Easy Come, Easy Go

Stripped a living room today and had told the woman it would be $200, way back whenever. Was afraid that I had underquoted before I got there, but soon found out differently. The paper came right off with no problem so I had to work extremely slowly to justify my charges.

On the way home, I stopped at Home Depot to get my stain, primer and paint for the stairs and was like a kid in a Candy Shop. I managed to spend 130 of my "hard-earned dollars" by saying "well, while I'm here I might as well get this and that and that and this. Was shocked at the checkout because it didn't look like that much. Guess I won't get my hair and nails done this week but I am now prepared for lots of blown out bulbs, etc.

Yeah!!!

I DID IT!!! I got all the carpet, nails and staples off the staircase. Now for a nap and then scrubbing the steps so I can paint and stain them sometime in the future. Maybe Wednesday???? Tomorrow I have to go to work.

I also called and made my checkup appt. at my dentist. That is another one of those things I put off and put off until I have a problem with a tooth. So I am proud that I have gotten this done too. D-day is December 8th.

So far, a good day!!!

Something--Anything

I promise I will get SOMETHING done this week.

I plan on punishing myself if I don't. ( Like no going to Ross or getting my hair done unless I have finished a project).

Just another week

This week's happenings............

The dead tree in front yard is gone and Jeffrey is in jail again, probably for a long time.

Other than those things it was just another week.

Cassidy's weekend

Saturday morning, I got on the road at 9 to go to Cassidy's soccer game and then her party with the grandparents. For once, there were no problems and we had a good day, despite the very cool weather.

Sunday , I didn't think I could be of any help for the kiddie party so I left to come home about 10:30. Stopped at a junk shop to just look around and came home to watch the Redskins eke out another win against the Brown's.

Monday, a lazy day. Just puttering around doing small chores.

This morning I decided I didn't feel like going out with Susie again so I called and begged off. I just feel like puttering again today. I had decided that this whole week I would do just what I felt like doing every day so I guess this applies. May or may not get into a larger puttering job today but at least I have the choice now.

Dumb customer

As it turned out, I got to work yesterday and the woman only had 1 double roll of paper in her possession. This being her 1st papering job ever, she didn't know to check the bag. She decided that I should hang it between the cabinets in her kitchen and then we would wait for the rest to come in and do the hallway. She likes the paper so well that she has added several more areas to be done the same, so when it all arrives, I will have 4 more doubles to hang. It is fairly plain paper so this will all look okay.

Today I had an estimate in Herndon and then met Susie for lunch and some more Thrift Store shopping.

Dragging

Working again today but still recuperating from job on Monday and Tuesday. My mind and body are not in the work mode anymore. But I'll pretend to do my best. At least the job is local so I don't have far to drive.

Weekly Update

Tuesday I worked. Wednesday I met Susie for lunch and we went snooping through the Salvation Army Store in Herndon. Thursday I did a repair job in Vienna and then took Nancy to lunch for her birthday. Friday everything I touched around the house went wrong so I laid on the sofa in front of the TV all afternoon pouting.

Today is a beautiful day!!!! I was going to Deb's this AM for Cassidy's soccer game and then back to their house for Cassidy's birthday party. Got a call last night that Cassidy was not feeling well but they would determine in the morning if things were still scheduled. Well, they were canceled-------took her to doctor and she has strept throat, so party is next weekend instead.

Was supposed to go to my dad's from Deb's tomorrow morning so I guess I'll hit the road to his house early. He wants me to fix his toilet because "it would cost too d--n much to get a plumber. Probably be $100". I'm getting so sick of hearing that phrase out of him that I could spit!!!

Since I stayed home, I decided to go to yard sales. Ran into Susie and we got some great bargains, including a new outside lamp for my dad. Now I'll have to play plumber and electrician. Really did fill up my car with great junk but now I need to swap out my other good junk. BUT IT IS CHEAP FUN!!!

I Didn't

I got showered and dressed and started down the road to make the 50 mile trek and decided "this is ludicrous" since Jeffrey's either at work or won't answer the door. So now I'm back to thinking what a bad mother I am for not at least trying.

Watched the Redskins beat the Eagles and put a table top on an iron base to be used as a coffee table. The stain I bought was not dark enough so today I got another and it's still not dark enough. Will have to try again in a few days.

Tomorrow I am scheduled to strip and repaper a small bathroom in Fairfax. Hope it's an easy day. I am getting so lazy!!!

Should I or Shouldn't I?

Trying to decide whether to go see what's happening with Jeffrey. He has not been in touch for at least a week and has not answered my texts.

Could be he is working and doesn't need money or could be he is too depressed to make contact.

A Mother's Dilemma--------------------

It's an hours' drive and the weather is just beautiful today. A typical crisp, sunny Fall Day. So the ride would be pleasant but expensive because of gas prices.

Good News

The visit to SS office was not as bad as I expected. The only snag was that I needed some paperwork from home that I couldn't find so I had to go to my lawyers office to get a copy. Back to the SS office and things went smoothly.

Today I got a notice in the mail that I would not have to return the money that was overpaid to me. Hallelujah!!! They decided it would be a hardship for me to do so and it was their fault.
